Day 2 Update (Great Wall and The Bird's Nest) ...

WOW!!!  Today was an amazing day.  We started by visiting the Cloisone Factory.  It was fascinating watching these intricate pieces of art being created.  The boys picked out a bracelet to have for Madi on Monday when we finally get to her.

Next, it was on to The Great Wall.  Walking the Great Wall was an experience I will never forget.  To think those miles and miles of wall were built by hand and used for centuries to secure the city … amazing!  We got to walk a pretty long stretch of the wall.  It was exhausting, but worth every step of the way!  We also had a lot of great conversations with the other families who are adopting at the wall and over lunch today.  It’s so great to get to know these families and to learn of their hearts!

Finally, we got to hit “The Bird’s Nest” … The Olympic Village from the 2008 Olympics.  Very impressive.

As I’m typing this, it’s 7:11pm on Saturday night (Beijing time).  Tina and the boys are napping.  I’ll have to wake them soon or they'll be waking up at 2am!.  But for now, I’ll let them rest.  Tomorrow, we visit the Forbidden City and a couple other things.  Then on Monday, we finally get to be with Madi!!!

Thanks everyone and keep those prayers comin’!  It’s been a great trip so far.

shane.
